Mohamed Salah would trade personal awards to replay Champions League final

Jurgen Klopp dismissed the notion that Mohamed Salah’s recent dip in form was due to a lack of motivation. Klopp emphasized that it was unfair to draw comparisons with Manchester City’s Erling Haaland, who netted his 15th league goal over the weekend.

Despite an array of individual accolades this season, including the Premier League’s playmaker of the season and a shared golden boot with Son Heung-min, Salah expressed a profound desire to trade all those honors for the opportunity to replay the recent 1-0 Champions League final loss to Real Madrid.

Taking to Twitter on Thursday, Salah conveyed his gratitude for being recognized by both fans and sports journalists in the same season, deeming it a special achievement. He acknowledged the disappointment of not securing the Champions League trophy for Liverpool, expressing that he would willingly relinquish his personal awards for a chance to alter the outcome of the final.

In a heartfelt message, Salah stated, “I cannot express in words how much we wanted to bring that trophy back to Liverpool but in the end, we couldn’t. It has been a very long season, but a part of me wishes the next one starts again tomorrow.”

Despite the Champions League setback, Liverpool concluded the season with victories in the League Cup and FA Cup, and a runner-up finish to Manchester City in the Premier League.
